Valencia, April 11th 2018
The European theatre project Erasmus+ Scene Network, led by the General Foundation of the University of Valencia, was awarded the European Heritage Label by the European Commission. This recognition is granted to initiatives that help achieve the objectives of the European Year of Cultural Heritage, such as the protection, reuse, appreciation and promotion of the European cultural heritage.
Awarding this label grants the right to use the visual identity of the European Year of Cultural Heritage, thereby providing the beneficiaries of the Erasmus+ project with better visibility. Moreover, it guarantees the diffusion of the selected project on a national and European level.
Erasmus+ Scene Network is a European cultural project based on theatre and education, directed towards Erasmus students, Valencian students and refugees in Valencia. The main objective is to establish a meeting point for them all to work together with a common goal: the creation of a theatre show. This process will lead to the acquisition of skills in languages, communication, art and expression to improve various aspects of the integration and employability of the participants. As such, its goal is the integration of refugee citizens, immigrants and Erasmus students, through the apprenticeship of languages, the use of theatre and the scenic arts as a vehicle for cohesion.
Four partners from three European countries joined the project: the General Foundation of the University of Valencia (Spain, coordinator of the project), Philipps-Universität Marburg (Germany), University of Padova (Italy), and the Valencian theatre company CRIT (Spain); it will culminate in the celebration of the Erasmus Scene European Festival, from May 21st to 25th, in the Cultural centre of the NAU, headquarters that will reunite in Valencia the members of the first European theatre network Escena Erasmus.
